Required Postings
As an employer, you are legally required to post certain documentation and signage in your clinic to protect your employees’ health and safety. These postings should be placed in visible areas so your staff can easily access them.
Print and Post Notice to Workers Posters
Employers must post any document, memo, or poster that is published by WorkSafeBC under the title “Notice to Workers.” Currently, there are two posters of this type that are required to be posted.
The first poster outlines what to do if workers are injured at work, how to start a claim, and how to contact WorkSafeBC for help.
The second indicates where workers can access the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Regulation in their workplace. Employers must make a copy of the Workers Compensation Act and OHS Regulation available for staff to review (e.g., either digitally or in printed format) and post a notice in the workplace stating where they can be found.
Customize and Print Workplace First Aid Procedures
Employers must post first aid procedures specific to their worksites. This poster details the available first aid resources, including the locations, contacts, duties, and authority of first aid attendants. It also includes reporting responsibilities, transportation arrangements for injured staff, and prearranged emergency routes.
Post Biological Hazard Signage
Signs or placards must be posted to clearly mark areas in the clinic where biological hazards (e.g., clinical specimens, contaminated sharps boxes) are stored. For example: “BIOHAZARD – Clinical Specimens” or WHMIS Biohazard pictogram
Committee Members and Meetings
Clinics must post the names and work locations of all Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC) members and the three most recent JOHSC meeting reports (if the clinic is required to have a JOHSC).
